Season's first bass... and a squid dinner

I took a last minute road trip up to the Cape on Thursday night to fish with my college buddy Rick (of "Rick and Bluefin"fame). We went into Princes Cove for some schoolie bass action and were not disappointed. Within seconds we were both hooked up on our first bass of the season. We threw with our spin gear for a while and then broke out the fly rods with clousers. My clouser was expertly tied by my eleven-year-old son Tommy (of "Tommy Hacker and Bluefish" fame) and the bass loved it! We had our fill of that and went outside the Osterville Cut to join the squid fleet in Nantucket Sound. We stopped the boat in flat calm seas and proceeded to jig up an endless bounty of large squid, ink and water flying, tentacles wrapping, water squirting - that's squidding for you! A mere eight hours later they were in our well satisfied bellies - what a feast! The water temperatures outside the Cut were still in the mid- to high- forties (cold!) but as the water warms up over the next few weeks the larger bass will be moving in and then watch out! All for now... Glen
