Talkin' about seabass and stripers
I didn't make it out on the water today -- had teeth to attend to. I did, however, talk with my buddy Rick(of Rick and Bluefin fame)and he had gone out yesterday afternoon for some sea bass and blackfish action. He caught a 6 and a half pound seabass amongst other monsters and a mess of blackfish, using the previous day's squid catch for bait. I spoke with my roommate from college(Fairfield University)Rob who landed numerous schoolie bass from the Connecticut River over the weekend, with some larger fish in the mix. I ran into a boyhood friend who was out on the Vineyard this past weekend near the Chappaquiddick Bridge and scored a number of near-keeper stripers from the surf using a Storm Shad(Pearl) with a surf candy teaser. He also left us with some fresh cherrystones and mussels which were madly consumed seconds from emerging, shells open, from the boiling brine. Last but not least, Jimmy from Cedar Marina in Bridgeport, CT scored 20-something keeper fluke at Montauk this past weekend with interference from shorts and pesky skates. He said all in all it was a great trip. Tight lines - screaming drags, Glen.Oh yeah almost forgot, my boat's in the water thanks to Frank at the Cedar, the bad news..I need to put fuel in her.
